Luanda, Angola, 27 Sept – Angolan bank, Banco Internacional de Crédito (BIC) plans to open 18 bank branches across the country by the end of the year, taking its total number of branches to 170, the bank’s chairman, Fernando Teles said Monday in Luanda.

“BIC is currently the most represented financial institution in Angola, with branches in 64 of the country’s municipalities, after six years in business,” Teles said during the inauguration of the bank’s headquarters in Talatona, in south Luanda, cited by Angolan news agency Angop.

The headquarters of the bank, which currently has 152 branches in the country, in a 10-storey building, brings together all the departments that were previously spread across the city with the aim of providing a personalised service.

According to the chairman, the bank is committed and accepts the challenge of doing business across the country, by providing loans to businesspeople who want to invest in these areas, which is why Banco BIC is opening branches in all of Angola’s municipal areas.

Banco BIC, which ahs been operating since 2005 is the fastest growing Angolan financial institution and now has over 500,000 customers, 1,437 staff members and 152 branches across the country. Its credit portfolio is worth US2.4 billion.
