Sonangol Investimentos Industriais to open six more factories in Angola

Luanda, Angola, 14 Oct – Sonangol Investimentos Industriais (SIIND) plans by next December to inaugurate six more factory units in the Viana Special Economic Area (ZEE), the company’s chief executive, Bravo da Rosa said Thursday in Luanda.

Cited by Angolan news agency Angop, Bravo da Rosa said that the factories due to be opened would manufacture, metal roof tiles, sprung mattresses, electroplating, metal hardware, electrical cables and PVC accessories for water networks, at an expected cost of US$40 million.

The ZEE project outlines 73 new factories, and of those the following are already operating: Angolacabos, for fibre optic cables, Indutive, for paints and varnishes, Mateletrica, electrical materials, Mangotal, metallic structures, Pivangola, irrigation materials, Pipeline Angola, PVC pipes, and the fencing and wire factory, Vedatela.

The special economic areas, which are coordinated by the Angolan National Reconstruction Office, aim to be institutional, administrative and economic models for certain areas of Angola, as part of the re-launch and development of Angola’s production facilities and businesspeople. (macauhub)
