Prices in Macau rise 6.71 pct year-on-year in October

Macau, China, 21 Nov – Macau’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) posted a year-on-year rise of 6.71 percent in October mainly due to the rise in the price of meals outside the home and gasoline, the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau said.

In the period there were significant rises as compared to October 2010 in the categories of Miscellaneous Products and Services (10.03 percent), Food and non-Alcoholic Drinks (9.75 percent) and Transport (9.23 percent).

The inflation rate in September, measured as the average variation over the last 12 months against the preceding 12 months, rose by 0.22 basis points to 5.34 percent following a rise of 0.22 percentage points in September.

In October the CPI rose 0.58 percent against September, mainly due to the 2.08 percent rise in the Clothing and Footwear category. (macauhub)
