24 November 2011

Luanda, Angola, 24 Nov – A factory to produce textile products for the hotel sector will be built, in the mid term, in Angola, as part of an investment of US$30 million by Angolan company Savana, an official from the company said Wednesday in Luanda.

Speaking to Angolan news agency Angop, Francisco Guanilho Duarte, who is responsible for the project management department, said the company had been invited by the Ministry for Hotels and Tourism to build and manage the unit, which will manufacture textiles for hotels.

Duarte said that the project would be built in one of the two industrial hibs set up by the government and that the factory’s products, initially, would meet domestic demand, and at a later stage would be exported.

In terms of Savana’s expansion he said that the company planned to open two more stores in Luanda before the end of the year, one to sell textiles and decorative items and another to sell just textiles.

The company started operating by selling textiles to hotels and institutions and later started selling soft furnishing for the home and expanded its business to architecture, interior decorating and landscaping. (macauhub)
