Train line to reach Bié province, in Angola in January 2012

Lubango, Angola, 2 Dec – The chairman of Angolan regional railroad company Caminho-de-Ferro de Benguela, José Carlos Gomes, said Thursday in Lubango, Huíla province, that train journeys to Bié province would be available as f January 2012 and that passenger trains would arrive in Moxico in May.

Speaking to Angolan news agency Angop on the sidelines of the 3rd Transport Ministry consultation council being held in Lubango, José Carlos Gomes said that passenger and cargo trains were running as far as Huambo province, whilst work was underway to refurbish other section of the railroad as far as Moxico province.

Since the trains started operating from Benguela to Huambo, at least 5,000 passengers have been carried, the chairman of the railroad management company said.

CFB is due soon to start carrying heavy cargo to the province of Huambo, Bié and Moxico. (macauhub)
