Maputo, Mozambique, 6 Dec – Power production in Mozambique is expected to total 15,537 GWh in 2012, according to projections from the government included in the Economic and Social Plan (PES) for next year.
The document, which is due to be put up for approval this month at the country’s parliament, notes that electricity exported in 2012 is expected to increase by 4.3 percent year-on-year totalling 12,520 GWh.
The PES also notes that HCB will continue to work on replacing critical components of the dam and the power plant in order to ensure high levels of availability of the system and sustainability of the facility.
In its turn, the electricity produced by Electricidade de Moçambique at thermal plants may come to 47.2 percent of the total as a result of the “positive performance,” expected at natural gas-fired power plants. (macauhub)
