Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics plans to support 2013 census in Angola

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 12 Dec – The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) will train Angolan staff and provide the technical means for carrying out the 2013 Population Census in Angola, Angolan news agency Angop reported.

The assistance was agreed during a meeting between officials from IBGE and Angola’s Planning Minister, Ana Dias Lourenço, who was in Rio de Janeiro after a two-day visit to the city of Fortaleza, where she worked with the authorities of Ceará state and with the secretary for Planning and with Ceará State University.

Following the meetings, the Planning Minister established an agreement with the academic authorities of Ceará University with a view to training Angolan staff in Public policy and Management, whilst also noting Ceará State’s availability to share its experience of supervising and controlling public investments with the Angolan Government.

Ceará state has had significant success in integrating planning, budgeting and investment project supervision, results management and use of result indicators to supervise public investment projects. (macauhub)
