29 December 2011

Dalian, China, 29 Dec – Brazilian mining company Vale’s first ore ship carrying 350,000 tons or iron ore moored Tuesday in the port of Dalian in the Chinese province of Liaoning.

Unloading of the Berge Everest ship is already underway.

Vale ordered a number of giant ore ships from South Korean and Chinese shipyards to carry Brazilian ore to China as a way of reducing the cost of leasing ships.

Vale’s investment in acquiring the ore ships was of some US$8 billion.

China is the biggest importer of Brazilian iron ore. (macauhub)
