Montepuez Mining plans to mine for rubies in Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado province

Maputo, Mozambique, 3 Jan – Montepuez Mining, a company that was recently founded in Mozambique, plans soon to start mining for rubies, which are abundant in the Montepuez district of Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado province, according to Mozambican daily newspaper Notícias.

Asghar Fakhar, one of the managing-partners of Montepuez Mining, a partnership that involves a British mining company, told Rádio Moçambique that the company had been awarded a 25-year mining concession.

Fakhar also said that the concession involved an area of 32,000 hectares and Montepuez Mining expects other companies to set themselves up in the Namanhumbir region to provide support services to the mining industry. (macauhub)
