Maputo, Mozambique, 5 Jan – The district of Lalaua, in Mozambique’s Nampula province, was linked up to the national power grid on 20 December, Mozambican state electricity company Electricidade de Moçambique (EdM) said Tuesday.
With the electrification of Lalaua district 106 of Mozambique’s 128 districts are now linked to the national grid.
The investment carried out by EdM in the district included building a 75 kilometre medium voltage power transmission line and 5 kilometres of low voltage transmission line.
This project to provide power to another district cost US$3 million, which was secured by a loan from India’s Export Import Bank. (macauhub)
