British group plans to build six tourist resorts in Cape Verde

Praia, Cape Verde, 19 Jan – British tourism group The Resort Group PLC plans to build six tourist resorts on Cape Verde’s Boa Vista island over the next 12 to 15 years, increasing the number of rooms the groups has on the island to 4,300, Cape Verdean weekly newspaper A Semana reported.

The first of these tourist resorts is the “White Sands Beach Hotel & SPA,” which will be built on Santa Mónica beach and work is due to begin in September, 2013.

The remaining resorts will be the subject of specific discussions, at the appropriate time, according to an agreed schedule and the procedures of the Society for Tourist Development of the Islands of Boa Vista and Maio (SDTIBM).

The Resort Group PLC started operating in Cape Verde on Sal island, where it will have three tourist resorts.

The first, the Meliá Tortuga Beach Resort & Spa, is already fully operational, the second, the Dunas Beach Resort & Spa, has been under construction since September 2010, and the third, the Llana Beach Hotel, is due to start being built this year. (macauhub)
