Macau, China, 20 Jan – Around 1.9 million people, including residents and visitors, are expected to pass through the Portas do Cerco border in Macau during the Lunar New Year holidays due to begin Sunday and end on 29 January, according to Macau’s Public Security Policy.
The official responsible for the border, commissioner Ku Keng Hin, said that the number of residents and visitors expected to pass through the border post represented a rise of 7 percent against the number recorded in the previous year’s Lunar New Year holiday period.
The commissioner also said that the Portas do Cerco border post, between Macau and China, currently had capacity to process 500,000 people per day.
In 2011 Macau received 28 million visitors that entered the territory by land, sea and air. (macauhub)
