Macau, China, 1 Feb – The unemployment rate in Macau in 2011 totalled 2.5 percent of the active population and the rate of unemployment of residents totalled 3.2 percent, with both rates falling by 0.3 percentage points against figures for 2010, the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau said.
Between October and December of last year, the unemployment rate totalled 2.1 percent, having fallen 0.2 percentage points against the previous period (September to November 2011), the Bureau said.
The unemployed population totalled 7,400 people having fallen by 600 people against the previous period (September to November 2011) and the number of unemployed people seeking their first job accounted for 12.4 percent of the unemployed population, which means it fell by 2.9 percentage points against the previous period (September to November 2011).
Between October and December of last year, the active population totalled 347,000 people and the rate of activity accounted for 72.9 percent, having risen by 0.4 percentage points against the September to November period. (macauhub)
