Sao Tome and Principe to have 3G mobile telephone network

Sao Tome, Sao Tome and Principe, 2 Feb – Sao Tome telecommunications company Companhia Santomense de Telecomunicações (CST) has announced an investment of 3 million euros in a 3G mobile telecommunications network, sales of which are scheduled for this March.

“In the next week we expect to start testing and the start of the commercial 3G service is set for March,” said the chief executive of CST, José Jardim, whose company has the monopoly on telecommunications on the West African archipelago, Cited by Pan-African news agency Panapress.

Jardim, who was speaking at the end of a meeting with Prime Minister Patrice Emery Trovoada, said that this innovation would allow the people of Sao Tome to have, for example, access to broadband on their laptops and mobile phones. (macauhub)
