China’s Beiqi Foton Motors to modify trucks for sale in Brazil

Sao Paulo, Brazil, 10 Feb – Chinese automotive group Beiqi Foton Motors Co. Ltd. plans to modify its trucks to go on sale in Brazil in order to comply with local regulations, specifically in terms of fuel, the Brazilian press reported.

The group, which may build a factory in Brazil, will start operating in the South American country through imports by the company owned by formed chairman of Brazilian development bank Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Económico e Social (BNDES) Luiz Carlos Monteiro de Barros.

Thus, the trucks that arrive in Brazil for sale will have engines that have been adapted to run on low-lead diesel produced by Petrobras and the Arla 32 additive, which reduces emissions of some polluting gases.

Also according to the Brazilian press, Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. will certify its Foton Aumark trucks using the Euro 5 standard, in order to improve acceptance by Brazilian transport companies. (macauhub)
