Maputo, Mozambique, 20 Feb – The 20011-2014 Indicative Cooperation Programme (PIC) includes funding from Portugal to Mozambique of 62 million euros, under the terms of the agreement signed Saturday in Maputo by the governments of the two countries.
As well as this, in the same period Portugal will provide budgetary aid to Mozambique of 1.5 million euros per year, the Portuguese State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Luís Brites Pereira.
The Mozambican deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Henrique Banze, thanked Portugal for its direct budgetary aid, “given the economic and financial difficulties,” Portugal is facing.
The PIC, with its 62 million-euro financial package for the 2011-2014 period, will focus on combating poverty, which will absorb 80 percent of total funds, good governance, with 18 percent, and the so-called cluster of Mozambique Island, with 2 percent. (macauhub)
