Taiwan’s CPC Corp buys 6 million barrels of oil from Angola

London, United Kingdom, 28 Feb – The Taiwan CPC Corp oil refinery last week bought 6 million barrels of crude oil from Angola in a decision that may be related to sanctions imposed by Japan, according to financial news agency Reuters.

Last year Taiwan imported around 30,000 barrels of Iranian oil per day, or the equivalent of 1 million barrels per month.

The agreement signed Thursday was to buy 3 million barrels of Angolan Nemba oil, 2 million barrels of Cabinda oil and 1 million barrels of Palanca oil to be delivered in May.

According to information issued in London Angolan state oil company Sonangol sold 2 million barrels of Nemba oil and 1 million barrels of Palanca oil, Chinese company Unipec, a subsidiary of Sinopec, sold 1 million barrels of Nemba and 1 million barrels of Cabinda oil and US company Conoco sold 1 million barrels of Cabinda oil.
