Luanda, Angola, 29 Feb – Since the beginning of February Angola has had an online interbank transfer system that allows banking customers to transfer amounts of up to 5 million kwanzas (US$52,000), the Exictos company said in Luanda.
According to a report published on the company’s website, the Credit Transfer Sub-system (STC) has been in operation since 10 February and is already being sued by 23 banks operating in the country, including Banco Angolano de Negócios e Comércio, Banco Angolano de Investimento, and Banco Caixa Geral Totta.
The company also said that in order to carry out interbank transfers in national currency users simply have to access the online banking platform and provide the name of the payee and the reason for payment and the transfer is guaranteed for the next working day.”
The STC is managed by EMIS (Angolan Automatic Settlement Chamber) and regulated by the Angolan National Bank.
