Angola’s Energy and Water Minister, João Baptista Borges said in Cacuso, Malange, that a public tender would be launched for construction of the second system to collect and treat water for the city, which will be built on the Kuiji river with the aim of improving the problem of a lack of water in Malange, Angolan news agency Angop reported.
The minister said Saturday that funding was available for the work, which is expected to take two years.
According to Baptista Borges when construction is finished water supply to Malange will double.
The minister also said that the World Bank this year had funded a new drinking water project for the city of Malange, the programme for which will be launched on 8 March by the Energy and Water Ministry, intended to boost capacity and expand the water supply and distribution network, as well as linking 7,000 houses to the system.
