Bridge over Nzenza River in Angola ready in April

15 March 2012

Ndalatando – Construction of a new bridge over the Nzenza River between the municipal area of Golungo Alto and the Camame commune, in the Ngonguembo municipal area, in Angola’s Kwanza Norte province, will be concluded in the next 45 days, the work’s foreman, Óscar Varela, told Angolan news agency Angop.

Construction of the bridge is part of the provincial government’s activities to improve road travel between the municipal areas of Golungo Alto and Banga, via Camame, over a distance of 85 kilometres.

Varela said that the work was in its final stages and that all that was left to do was finish paving and access roads, construction of which is due to begin in the next few days in order to make it possible to finish the work within the contract deadline.

The bridge, which is 160 metres long and seven metres wide, is made up of a reinforced, pre-stressed concrete deck supported on pillars, two of which are over the river Nzenza itself.

The project, which began in June 2011 and is due to end in April, will replace an old metal bridge that is in an advanced state of disrepair. (macauhub)
