Kenmare Resources exports 730,400 tons of mining products in 2011 in Mozambique

Irish mining company Kenmare Resources produced 730,400 tons of mining products in 2011 by mining its heavy sands deposits in Moma, in Mozambique’s Nampula province, which was a year-on-year increase of 2.45 percent the company said in a statement issued in Maputo.

Total production was 842,900 tons, which was an 8.8 percent decrease on the 959,900 tons produced in 2010. Ilmenite production totalled 636,800 tons (678,400 tons in 2010) and zircon production was 43,600 tons (37,100 tons in 2010).

The company said that Phase II of the expansion project was progressing well and that a variety of equipment was being delivered by suppliers in Moma. Kenmare also said that most of the increased production had already been sold to customers.

Last year Kenmare Resources posted net profit of US$23.7 million after posting a loss of US$16.3 million the previous year. (macauhub)
