Macau’s casinos post gross revenues of US$9.914 billion in first quarter

Macau’s casinos posted accumulated gross revenues of 79.314 billion patacas (US$9.914 billion) in the first three months of 2012, representing a year on year rise of 27.0 percent, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (GICB) said.

In accumulated terms the growth rate seen at the end of March was the lowest for the year, following year-on-year growth of 34.8 percent in January and 28.3 percent at the end of February.

In March alone, Macau’s casinos netted gross revenues of 24.989 billion patacas (US$3.123 million), which represented growth of 24.4 percent against the same month of 2011.

In 2011 gross gaming and gambling revenues in Macau’s casinos totalled 267.867 billion patacas (US$32.904 billion).

At the end of 2011 there were 34 casinos in Macau, 20 of which were owned by Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, three by Venetian Macau, five by Galaxy Casino, three by Melco/PBL Jogos (Macau) and one each by Wynn Resorts and MGM Grand Paradise. (macauhub)
