12 April 2012

Two new factories are due to be opened in the second half of this year in the Angolan city of Lubango, Huíla province, resulting from a total investment of US$56 million, according to Angolan weekly newspaper Expansão.

One of the factories will be a mineral water bottling unit for the Preciosa brand, which represents an investment of US$10 million by the hotel and restaurant group O Regente. The bottling plant will have two filling lines with a capacity of 8,500 1.5 litre bottle per hour as well as 500 ml bottles.

This new factory will be the third mineral water bottling unit in the province, after the Água de Chela unit was built in 1997 and the Cristo Rei unit in 2009, both of which are located in the Humpata municipal area.

The second factory is a unit to manufacture pre-fabricated metal structures and zinc sheets called Metalosul, and will be built on the outskirts of Lubango.

Metalosul, which owned by the Socolil group, has been operating on an experimental basis since January and investment in the unit so far is US$46 million. (macauhub)
