Brazilian company Brascopper merges with Chinese group Hengtong Optic-Electric

Brazilian company Brascopper will be called Brascopper/Hengton Cabos Ópticos e Tecnologia following an agreement to merge signed with Chinese group Hengtong Optic-Electric Co. in Três Lagoas, in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul, the Brazilian press reported.

Also according to the Brazilian newspapers, a mission of Chinese group officials and from the Chinese government made use of their trip to visit the location where the new electric copper and aluminium telecommunications and electricity cable factory is due to be built.

The chairman of the Chinese group, Gao Amin, noted this was the group’s first investment in Brazil and added that it would do everything necessary to be successful both in Brazil and across Latin America.

Chinese group Hengtong Optic-Electric Co. Was founded in June, 1993 and listed on the Shanghai stock exchange in August 2003. It is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of power transmission and telecommunications cables. (macauhub)
