Angolan company plans to build new factories in Bié province

17 April 2012

Nine industrial units will in the future be built by the Lucas Simão Herdeiro company in the Kunje commune industrial zone 7 km north of the city of Kuito, capital of central Angola’s Bié province, the company’s president said.

Lucas Simão told Angolan news agency Angop on Monday in Kuito that his company had short, middle and long term plans to build factories to transform soy and maize into vegetable oil and to preserve and can beans and pineapples using locally produced raw materials.

The project will count on backing from Argentinian entrepreneurs and enable more than 60 jobs to be created when the future industrial units become operational, Simão said.

The company is currently conducting soil analyses at two sites in the northern part of the province, where pineapples, soy and maize are already being grown on 14 hectares of land. (macauhub)
