Entrepreneurs from China’s Shandong province in Bahia, Brazil, for business meetings

17 April 2012

A delegation of 23 entrepreneurs and eight representatives of the Shandong provincial government is visiting Salvador, capital of Brazil’s Bahia state, to meet with local businessmen looking for investment opportunities, the Brazilian press reports.

The mission is headed by the Vice-Governor of Shandong province, Cai Limin, and marks the 13th anniversary of the twinning agreement between that Chinese province and the Brazilian state. One result has been the interest shown by directors of the Jining High & New Technology Industry Development Zone in contacting the state’s cotton producers to set up eventual partnerships.

The state’s Agriculture Secretary, Eduardo Salles, said during a meeting at the Bahia State Federation of Industries (FIEB) in Salvador that missions from the Bahia government and the opening of a permanent office in Beijing would increase business opportunities, making “Bahia the main destination of Chinese investment in Brazil”.

Representatives of the Shandong Guanfeng Hi-Tech Seed Co Ltd, a palm oil producer which already has facilities in Pará state, said at the meeting that they were studying whether to open an office in Bahia state to expand their activity area, especially in the southeast region of Brazil. (macauhub)
