China’s Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group Co to build new Luanda General Hospital

19 April 2012

China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group Co, a subsidiary of the China Railway Engineering Corporation, will build the new Luanda General Hospital under terms of an agreement signed on Wednesday in Beijing, Angolan news agency Angop reports.

The agreement stipulates that the new hospital will be built on the same site as the previous one which opened in 2006. It closed four years later after serious construction problems were detected.

Work on the new hospital centre, with a capacity of more than 250 beds, should be completed in July 2014.

On the Angolan side the document was signed by the Luanda province director for public works and infrastructures, Torres Bunga, and by Manuel Lucoqui of the project design firm. On the Chinese side it was signed by Zhang Zijun of the Beijing Architecture and Design Institute and Yu Junhua, director of the company awarded the building contract.

The previous hospital was built and equipped by the China Overseas Engineering Group Co, Ltd, a subsidiary 100% controlled by the same China Railway Engineering Corporation state group, under a credit line granted by the Chinese government. (macauhub)
