Coffee bought in Cape Verde by Fogo Coffee Spirit will be exported to the Netherlands

The Fogo Coffee Spirit company has so far bought almost 23 tons of coffee grown in Mosteiros, Cape Verde, or the equivalent of 40 percent of production in 2012, said Licínio Andrade, the president of the Cape Verde Association of Coffee Producers (Procafé).

Cited by Cape Verdean newspaper A Semana, Andrade also said that the company’s target was to buy 25 tons of cherry red coffee, and most of it would be exported to the Netherlands.

In this its first year of business the company has invested around 18 million Cape Verdean escudos in equipment that has just arrived in the municipal area, and this equipment is due to start being installed in May.

Set up at the end of 2011, Fogo Coffee Spirit’s majority shareholder is Dutch company Trabocca with a 51 percent stake, its other shareholders are Casa Rodrigo which holds 44 percent and the Mosteiros association of coffee producers with 5 percent. (macauhub)
