The Cape Verdean island of Sal will, from 16 to 20 June, host the fourth edition of Cape Verde’s Expotur Fair, which will be entitled, “One Destination, A Variety of Cultures,” Cape Verdean news agency Inforpress reported.
According to the agency the reason given for choosing Sal island by Cape Verde’s Tourism Minister, Humberto Brito, was that the islands is the “epicentre of tourism development,” in Cape Verde and that it will also be able to promote other tourist destinations on the archipelago.
At the launch ceremony, Brito said that Expotur/2012 would seek to attract businesspeople from China, Macau and Portuguese-speaking countries in order to, “publicise Cape Verde as a tourist destination and promote the country in markets that have yet to be explored, such as the Far East and Africa.”
The president of the International Cape Verde Fair (FIC), Luís Cardoso, said that during the 4th Expotur fair a number of parallel cultural and commercial activities would be laid on in different places, and demonstrating the importance of preserving and promoting the country’s material and immaterial heritage.
