Germany has provided Mozambique with funding of 24.5 million euros under the terms of a cooperation agreement signed Friday in Maputo by representatives of the two governments.
Nine million euros of that amount are in direct Budgetary Aid, and 2 million euros had already been included in a previous two-way agreement.
According to Mozambican daily newspaper Notícias, 4.5 million euros will be sent to institutions involved in the process of direct support for the State Budget, such as the Administrative Court and the Tributary Authority, as well as to civil society.
Ulrich Wilhelm Klocner, the German ambassador to Mozambique noted that direct Budgetary Aid from his country would continue to depend on Mozambique adopting concrete measures, specifically in the areas of good governance, management of public finances and, particularly, the fight against corruption.
