ENI East Africa Mozambique and Anadarko Mozambique have discovered more natural gas reserves in the deep waters of the Rovuma Basin, in northern Mozambique, as a result of well drilled in February and April, the Mozambique National Oil Institute (INP) said Tuesday in Maputo.

Cited by daily newspaper Notícias, the INP statement said that in the case of ENI East Africa Mozambique the discovery is estimated at between 7 and 10 trillion cubic feet as a result of drilling the Coral well in February in Area 4 of the Rovuma Basin.

With this discovery the natural gas reserves of the Mozambican subsidiary of Italian group ENI have increased to 47-52 trillion cubic feet.

The discovery made by Anadarko Mozambique was in Area 1 of the Rovuma Basin after drilling in the Golfinho well starting on 12 April. Reserves in this well are estimated at between 7 and 20 trillion cubic feet.

To date the natural gas announced by Anadarko total almost 50 trillion cubic feet.

The amount of natural gas found by the two companies in the Rovuma sedimentary basin totals around 100 trillion cubic feet. (macauhub)
