The Made in Angola programme aims to distinguish national products involving producers, consumers and workers, the Minister of State and Economic Coordination said at its official launching ceremony on Friday in Luanda.
Manuel Domingos Vicente explained that the Made in Angola logo would be affixed to packages of commercial products and used in companies’ publicity with the goal of developing a brand image for Angolan products and services, making them identifiable for national and international consumers.
Some 45 of the companies contacted in this first phase responded positively, among them Indústria Angolana de Óleos Vegetais (Induve), Sociedade Nacional de Combustíveis (Sonangol) and the banks Comércio e Indústria (BCI) and Angolano de Investimento (BAI).
Stimulating the demand for national products and services is vitally important at a time when Angola is facing the challenge of reducing its dependence on the exterior, Domingos Vicente said, cited by Angolan news agency Angop.
Protection and development of the existing production base, along with an incentive for new investment in national generation of added value, are an unequivocal departure point for development of the national economy, he added. (macauhub)
