Empresa Nacional do Parque de Ciência e Tecnologia (ENPCT) will be headquartered in Maluana, in Mozambique’s Maputo province, teh spokesman for Mozambique’s Council of Ministers said on announcing the creation of this state company to manage science and technology parks.

The Science and Technology Parks, said the spokesman and deputy Justice Minister, Alberto Nkutumula, were hubs for the development of scientific research, to promote innovation, generate knowledge and develop human resources.

The government plans for the parks to be technology and business incubators that bring together the activities of higher education facilities, scientific research and innovation, which will provide conditions for creating technology companies and products and services that can be used not only in Mozambique but also abroad.

“The Science and Technology Park is a model for concentration, linking, organisation, execution, and promotion of innovative facilities, with a focus on globalisation and sustainable development and with a view to making them economically and socially viable and able to face a highly competitive market,” said Nkutumula.

The new company will manage all the parks that are established in Mozambique and currently four facilities of this kind are in the pipeline.

Only the Maluana Science and Technology Park is at an advanced stage of construction, and it is expected to open this year. (macauhub)
