Mozambique’s Mining Resources Ministry has launched a national public tender to license areas for prospecting and geological surveying for coal in the Karroo sedimentary basin in the Mid Zambezi, according to a statement issued in Maputo.
The statement said that by restricting the tender to Mozambican citizens, the government intended to involve them in the coal business, and thus take more direct advantage of exploration of the country’s national resources.
The deadline for proposals is 27 July, 2012 when proposals will be opened.
Mozambique has recently become the target of many companies interested in prospecting and surveying for minerals and hydrocarbons. (macauhub)
