Cooperation between Angola and China sees positive results

8 June 2012

Cooperation between Angola and China in the economic and financial areas over the last 10 years has had positive results and contributed to reconstruction of infrastructure in Angola, the Angolan secretary of state for Cooperation, Exalgina Gambôa said Thursday in Luanda.

During a meeting between businesspeople from Angola and China, Gambôa said that good relations between the two states had made it possible to re-launch the Angolan economy and set up new structures that were important for growth and consolidation of an economy that needed to be strong and dynamic.

Cited by Angolan news agency Angop, Gambôa said that China was a strategic and privileged partner for Angola and added that Macau had an important role to play in promotion of bilateral and multilateral relations.

In this respect she noted that Macau was a platform for cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.

“It is an expanding market and the volume of trade between the two blocks, which grew over 42 percent in 2011, shows that the challenges are not greater than the enormous potential resources and opportunities,” she noted, re-stating the Angolan government’s wish further to boost cooperation in several areas.

The Chinese delegation of almost 100 businesspeople headed by the former chief executive of the Macau Special Administrative Region, Edmund Ho Hau Wah, over two days is scheduled to meet Angolan investors from a number of sectors, government members, and several Angolan institutions. (macauhub)
