Around 87 pct of Macau’s revenues came from gaming and gambling in the period between January and May.

In the first five months of this year Macau generated revenues of 50.640 billion patacas (US$6.3 billion) of which 44.025 billion were from direct taxes on gaming and gambling, according to official figures.

Revenues between January and May total almost half the projected revenues of 101.886 billion patacas for 2012.

Direct taxes on gaming, between January and May of this year, rose 25.2 percent against the first five months of 2011.

Direct taxes on gaming and gambling in the period accounted for 87 percent of Macau’s current revenue, 98.07 percent of direct taxes, and 86.93 percent of total public revenues.

In the same period Macau’s public spending totalled 13.408 billion patacas, or 9.7 percent more than between January and May, 2011 and 31.2 percent of the total projected for 2012. (macauhub)
