Brazilian company Eletrobras Furnas plans to set up a partnership with China Three Gorges Corp. To build a 200 megawatt wind farm of the Chinese coast director Olga Simbalista said Monday in Rio de Janeiro.
Speaking to Brazilian news agency Agência Estado, the director for Planning, Business Management and Stake-holdings of Eletrobras Furnas said that the Brazilian state company was expected to have a minority interest in the partnership, but that the size of the stake or the investment had yet to be decided.
Negotiations to be involved in the project in China began in February of this year when representatives form Eletrobras Furnas visited Beijing and signed a memorandum with the China Three Gorges Corp. Subsidiary for renewable energy.
In September of last year, China Three Gorges and Eletrobras Furnas signed a memorandum of cooperation to evaluate the possibility of carrying out joint projects in China, Brazil, and the rest of the world.
Eletrobras Furnas is a power generation and transmission company, which is a subsidiary of state power company Centrais Elétricas Brasileiras – Eletrobras. (macauhub)
