Luxembourg is set to provide 111 million euros to Cape Verde for a programme to offer greater access to drinking water and sanitation on the islands of Santiago, Fogo, and Brava, a source from the Cape Verdean Foreign Relations Ministry said.
Speaking to Portuguese news agency Lusa, a source from the ministry said that the protocol to finance the Plan of Action for Management of Water Resources (Pagire) was signed Tuesday and is part of the Luxembourg/Cape Verde 3rd Indicative Cooperation Programme.
The project also involves parallel activities such as development of integrated management of water resources in Cape Verde and improving performance of the country’s water and sanitation sector.
Cooperation with Luxembourg has helped Cape Verde in a number of areas, but most particularly in the areas of water supply and sanitation, renewable energy, tourism and hotels. (macauhub)
