Angola, by 2020, may achieve its target of 4.6 million tourists per year and 1 million direct jobs, the deputy Hotels and Tourism Minister, Paulino Baptista said in Luanda Friday cited by Angolan news agency Angop.

Speaking at the ceremony to hand over the trading license to catering company LSG Sky Chefs Taag Angola, the deputy minister said that projections pointed to Angola receiving 4.6 million tourists per year in 2012, providing revenue of US$4.7 billion.

According to the deputy minister, the Hotels and Tourism sector has seen considerable growth in the last few years rising from 61 hotels with 2,882 rooms in 2008, to 155 hotels with 7,956 rooms in 2012.

“In just four years our installed accommodation capacity has almost tripled, during a period of fully-fledged international financial crisis,” he said adding that the figures “allow us to state that tourism is seeing real development in Angola.” (macauhub)
