The 48th edition of the Maputo International Fair (FACIM), due to be held from 27 August to 2 September in Ricatla, in the Marracuene district of Maputo, already ahs 16 countries and 127 companies signed up, 106 of which are Mozambican, according to a spokesman from the fair’s organisers.

João Macaringue, chairman of Mozambique’s Export Promotion Institute (Ipex) also said that, although two more marquees had been added in comparison to the five set up last year, the area requested by exhibitors already exceeded the available space.

Cited by daily newspaper Notícias the chairman of Ipex said that another marquee would be set up to accommodate the countries and/or companies that may still show interest in taking part in the fair.

Macaringue announced a number of improvements at the event venue in relation to constraints found in 2011, the first year that the fair was held in Ricatla, outside the city of Maputo.

Ipex has also set up partnerships with several public and private institutions to add more value to Facim 2012, particularly daily music shows. (macauhub)
