13 July 2012

Brazilian state oil company Petrobras has found a new oil deposit in the pre-salt layer of the Espírito Santo basin in a concession located 58 kilometres from the city of Vitória, in the state of Espírito Santo, the company said in a statement issued Thursday.

The discovery was made on drilling a well informally called Grana Padano, 64 kilometres from the Golfinho oil field, at a water depth of 1,208 metres.

Petrobras is the operator of the consortium for exploration of the concession, with a 40 percent stake, in partnership with Brazilian company IBV Brasil (30 percent) and US company Anadarko Petroleum (30 percent).

Petrobras said that the consortium would continue with its activities in the block and planned to submit an evaluation proposal to the National Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuel Agency in order to assess how much all has been found and the productivity of the reserve. (macauhub)
