The first tests at the rice processing factory, construction of which is in its final stages in the town of Namacurra in Zambézia province, are scheduled to begin in August, Mozambican daily newspaper Notícias reported.
For that purpose the factory’s managers are buying 30 tons of rice so that, as soon as construction finishes, the factory’s equipment can be tested, as well as the quality of the processed product.
The rice processing factory represents an investment of 10 million meticals (US$360,000), which was provided by a Chinese estate institution as a loan to Sociedade de Gestão de Recursos Integrados (Sogeri).
The work to build the factory, which will be able to process 150 tons of rice per day, was delayed for five months and the contractor, a Chinese construction company, has committed to speeding up the finishing touches. (macauhub)
