Year-on-year inflation in Macau totals 6.19 pct in June

Macau’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) posted a year-on-year rise of 6.19 percent in June of this year due to rises in the prices of meals outside the home, and horticultural products, the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau said.

According to the official figure published, against June 2011, there were notable rises in the price indices of the categories of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (32.18 percent), and Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (8.94 percent).

In its turn, the rate of inflation, measured as the average variation over the last 12 months against the preceding 12 months, totalled 6.44 percent.

In June the CPI rose 0.22 percent against May, following rises in the categories of Clothing and Footwear (1.73 percent), and Recreation and Culture (0-93 percent). (macauhub)
