Angolan glass company Vidreira de Angola (Vidrul) is set to become an official supplier in Africa of glass containers to Coca-Cola, the managing director of the company, Carlos Martins said, noting that Coca-Cola SabMiller Angola was a benchmark in the Angolan market.
Speaking to newspaper Jornal de Angola, Martins said that Vidrul had already taken delivery of the moulds for Coca-Cola’s containers and was now preparing production in order to be assessed by quality inspectors from a Kenyan certification company.
According to the managing director of Vidrul, certification as a supplier of containers to Coca-Cola is a fact that proves the quality of the product manufactured in Angola.
Without mentioning the quantities that will be supplied, Martins noted that, as part of the agreement that is due to be signed, Vidrul will provide 40 percent of its production to the Castel Cuca BGI group and 30 percent to Coca-Cola SabMiller Angola, which will become its second-biggest customer.
The Castel Cuca BGI group which manages seven beer making companies, including Cuca and Nocal, in Luanda, Eka, in Dondo, Cerbab, Soba, Nocebo and Cobeje, is the biggest buyer of containers produced by Vidrul.
In relation to new African buyers, Martins said that the company’s business portfolio had grown substantially and noted that negotiations were underway with the Democratic Republic of Congo to provide containers. (macauhub)
