The ninth edition of the Huíla Agri-Livestock Fair (Expo-Huíla), included in the festival of Nossa Senhora do Monte, the patron saint of the city of Lubango in Angola, is due to open Wednesday and will remain open to the public until Saturday, Angolan news agency Angop reported.
The four-day event, which is organised by the Southern Angola Cattle Breeders Cooperative, will serve for associated livestock units to exhibit their breeding animals.
The managing director of the Cooperative, Álvaro Fernandes, said that the animals would be involved in a competition to establish which the best are, and that 25 breeders would sell 350 animals at auction.
The fair’s programme also includes several talks about animal breeding, genetics, and animal improvement, artificial insemination, the impact of embryo transfer, and bovine cattle diseases in Angola.
Fernandes said that machines and other agricultural equipment, fertilizers, and other agricultural products would also be exhibited.
The Southern Angola Cattle Breeders Cooperative was founded in 2004 and has 50 members. (macauhub)
