Train opens service to Luena, Angola

The train inaugurating the Cuita/Luena section of the Benguela railroad is due to arrive in the city of Luena in Moxico province on Friday, the Transportation Ministry indicated in a statement cited by Angolan news agency Angop.

The statement indicated that Angolan Transportation Minister Augusto da Silva Tomás was travelling on the train, which left Cuito on Thursday, and would open seven stations along the route.

A total of 17 new stations recently opened along the Benguela railroad and a further 39 are scheduled to open by the end of this month in the provinces of Namibe, Huíla and Cuando Cubango. (macauhub)
