Macau receives 16 million visitors in the first seven months of 2012

Macau received 16 million visitors in the first seven months of 2012, which was a drop of 1.4 percent against the same period of 2011, the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) said.

In that period the number of visitors from mainland China (9.5 million), South Korea (250,000) and Japan (241,000) rose by 7.1 percent, 8.7 percent and 15.6 percent, respectively. The number of visitors from Hong Kong (4.1 million) and Taiwan, China (613,000) fell by 7.4 percent and 15.5 percent, respectively against the first seven months of 2011.

In July the number of visitors totalled over 2.4 million people, a year-on-year drop of 4.2 percent, and mainland China was responsible for 1.4 million or 59 percent of the total, a drop of 0.3 percent against July, 2011. (macauhub)
