At least 140 Portuguese or Portuguese-owned companies are due to take part this year in the Maputo International Fair (Facim), to be held on the outskirts of the Mozambican capital from 27 August to 2 September, an official said in Lisbon.

In a statement, Portuguese investment and trade agency AICEP said that the Portugal pavilion at what is Mozambique’s largest business fair, will house 50 companies or business associations from sectors such as construction materials, agri-food and wine, and will cover an areas of 1171 square metres.

Portuguese companies from the following sectors will also take part in the fair: Metallurgical and metal mechanics, construction and consulting, ornamental rocks, information technologies, electrical and electronics materials, paper industry, ports, transport and logistics, home and hygiene items, textiles and clothing, agricultural machinery and livestock products.

“This year, as in last year’s edition, the interest of Portuguese companies in the Mozambican market exceeded the capacity of the Portuguese Pavilion, and some of them opted to exhibit on their own in other Facim pavilions,” noted the AICEP statement adding that, “Portugal’s presence at the fair is already a tradition and goes back to the 1980s.” (macauhub)
