Bridge over Lombe River inaugurated in Angola

24 August 2012

A new bridge stretching 57 metres long an 11 metres wide has been inaugurated over the Lombe River, re-establishing the road link between the east and south of Angola, through the Cacuso municipal area, in Malanje province, Angolan news agency Angop reported.

The bridge, which has two traffic lanes, was opened up to traffic by the Minister for Urbanism and Construction, Fernando Fonseca, who also inaugurated part of national road 322, which links the Capanda hydroelectric project (Malanje province) to Alto Dondo (Kwanza Norte).

This road, which stretches over 69 kilometres, has two traffic lanes in each direction.

Fonseca said that the road is intended to provide fast and comfortable access to the town of Capanda, allow access to the neighbouring dam’s power generation facilities and improve transport of agricultural products out of the region. (macauhub)
