Tourists from China spend the most money on purchases in Portugal

28 August 2012

Individual tourists from China are the ones who spend the most money on purchases in Portugal, especially for luxury items, indicate data from Global Blue, a financial company that also operates in the business of reimbursing value added tax (VAT).

The figures refer to tourists from outside the European Union, the only ones eligible for tax-free purchases of products that are exported and transported by tourists in their luggage. For that reason hotel and restaurant expenses are not included.

According to Global Blue, Chinese tourists spend an average of 560 euros per purchase on products of brands such as Louis Vuitton, Prada or Loewe. (macauhub)
